Softball Preview: Donegal Indians vs. Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers

Donegal and Lampeter-Strasburg are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Donegal Indians are taking a road trip to face off against the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Donegal made easy work of Dover and carried off a 13-5 victory. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jordin Meyers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samyah Deleon, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Milana Bucks was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lampeter-Strasburg took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Manheim Central.

At the plate, Mackenzie Mack was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Isabelle King, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Donegal's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.5 runs. As for Lampeter-Strasburg, their record is now 1-0.
