Baseball Game Preview: Monroe Trojans vs. Jackson Vikings

The Monroe Trojans will square off against the Jackson Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Monroe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Monroe turned things around against Airport on Saturday. They blew past the Jets 13-3.

Carson Liedel was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Monroe: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-3 to Lumen Christi Catholic.

Spencer Bush put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Bush was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Monroe's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Jackson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Monroe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. It's a different story for Jackson, though, as they've only averaged .341.
