Softball Recap: St. John Fighting Herald vs. Maplewood Rockets
St. John came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Maplewood Rockets, falling 11-1. The Fighting Herald were not able to make up for their loss to the Rockets from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.
St. John saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Holler, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Nadia Lagoa also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Maplewood, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. St. John is set to challenge their familiar foe Grand Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Maplewood will square off against rival Windham at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in the Rockets' favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Bombers have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
