Baseball Recap: Crescent City Comes Up Short

Crescent City fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against St. John Lutheran on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since February 12th.

Blaine Watkins was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crescent City's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Andrew Roosa, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Crescent City and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for St. John Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crescent City will head out to challenge Taylor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. John Lutheran, they will challenge Ocala Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
