Baseball Recap: South Fork Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

South Fork entered their tilt with Sebastian River on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Sharks 9-1. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Sharks back in February, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

Will Vining tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, South Fork let Jason Dennis and Colton Bettencourt run wild. Dennis scored a run while going 3-for-5, while Bettencourt scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Dennis a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Dustin Werthem, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-5.

South Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

South Fork's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Sebastian River, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, South Fork will venture away from home to square off against Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sebastian River, they will host Melbourne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
