Basketball Recap: Saxony Lutheran Comes Up Short

Saxony Lutheran was the 74-37 winner over Fredericktown when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders took a 61-46 bruising from the Fredericktown Black Cats on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 406th, while the Black Cats are ranked 193rd).

It was another big night for Pj Reutzel, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards for Fredericktown. Reutzel has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Calie Allgier was another key player, going 6 of 14 on her way to 16 points.

Saxony Lutheran has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Fredericktown, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saxony Lutheran will challenge Poplar Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Saxony Lutheran is facing Poplar Bluff at the right time seeing as Poplar Bluff is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Fredericktown has already played their next game (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
