Volleyball Recap: Glenoak Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

GlenOak's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Coventry Comets. The win was some much needed relief for the Golden Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

The 3-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 26-24, 25-22.

GlenOak's offense was headlined by Grace Lattavo and Kaitlyn Wilson, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Rylie Calvert and her 15 assists. She also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ruthie Weimer, each putting up two.

When it comes to explaining why Coventry lost, don't look at Ava Burkhart. Despite the final result, she had 16 digs and two aces. Burkhart is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruby Moritz, who had eight assists and three aces.

GlenOak's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Coventry, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.

Coming up, GlenOak will square off against Green at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coventry, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Springfield on the 2nd.
