Baseball Recap: Mcfarland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Del Oro

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McFarland). They put the hurt on the Del Oro Suns with a sharp 11-1 victory on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

McFarland let Cris Soto and Juan Hernandez run wild. Soto scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hernandez scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave Hernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Perez, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

McFarland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got McFarland back to even at 5-5-1. As for Del Oro, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, McFarland will take on Delano in a tournament on Saturday. Del Oro will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' matchup: after the Cougars faces off against the Tigers, they'll take on Del Oro again at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
