Volleyball Recap: Shania Paul's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Traverse Academy over Mesick + How To Watch

Grand Traverse Academy was the 3-1 winner over Mesick when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Thursday.

While Grand Traverse Academy had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shania Paul, who had 12 digs and one assist. Paul is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season. Claire Dennis was another key player, getting four aces and one assist.

Grand Traverse Academy's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Mesick, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-12-1 record this season.

Grand Traverse Academy has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Marion on the 2nd. As for Mesick, they will square off against Mason County Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
