Softball Game Preview: Herscher Tigers vs. El Paso-Gridley Titans

The Herscher Tigers will take on the El Paso-Gridley Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Herscher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Herscher took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over Yorkville Christian. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lilly Tucek tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chloe Kinkade, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keira Ahramovich, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, El Paso-Gridley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 7-0 to Fisher.

El Paso-Gridley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Herscher, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Herscher was able to grind out a solid victory over El Paso-Gridley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 12-8. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
