Basketball Recap: Ryan Clifton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calaveras over Liberty Ranch

Calaveras was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The matchup between them and the Liberty Ranch Hawks didn't end well, with the Calaveras Red Hawks falling 67-52. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Hawks of the 41-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Calaveras lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryan Clifton, who went 5 of 10 en route to 19 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Clifton is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Pedersen, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points.

Calaveras' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Liberty Ranch, their record now sits at 6-7.

Calaveras will host Riverbank at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty Ranch, they will head out to face off against Union Mine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Mine has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three contests.
