Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They put the hurt on the Esparto Spartans with a sharp 16-6 victory on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Julian Tripp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Foothill got a massive performance out of Richard Paiz, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Paiz a new career-high.
