Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Lake/Comfrey vs. Red Rock Central Falcons

Mountain Lake/Comfrey is 6-0 against Red Rock Central since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Mountain Lake/Comfrey will look to defend their home court against the Red Rock Central Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Mountain Lake/Comfrey will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, Mountain Lake/Comfrey had to suffer through a 100-51 loss at the hands of Springfield.

Meanwhile, Red Rock Central played a tough contest on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Springfield, falling 94-49. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Mountain Lake/Comfrey will have to contain Abe Stavnes as he made an impact in Red Rock Central's last game. He went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Stavnes a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Stavnes, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Red Rock Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Red Rock Central dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Mountain Lake/Comfrey was able to grind out a solid victory over Red Rock Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 63-51. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Red Rock Central's Isaac Simonson, who almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 18 boards, and nine assists.
