Volleyball Game Preview: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Santa Barbara Dons

Rio Mesa is 0-9 against Santa Barbara since September of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans will host the Dons at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Rio Mesa came up short against Oxnard and fell 3-1. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Yellowjackets 25-15 in the first set.

Rio Mesa started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-13, 25-19, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Yorba Linda by a score of 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.

Rio Mesa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Santa Barbara, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
