Basketball Recap: Wiggins Starts Season with Win at Home

Wiggins took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Fort Morgan Mustangs 60-17. With the Tigers ahead 36-6 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Wiggins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karsyn Kerr, who went 5-for-9 on her way to 10 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Kerr a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kellie Vicchrilli, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and four steals.

Wiggins smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Fort Morgan's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Wiggins has already played their next contest, a 56-47 win against Heritage Christian on the 6th. Fort Morgan has also already played their next matchup (against Prospect Ridge Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
