Softball Game Preview: Catholic vs. McDonogh Eagles

Catholic is 1-8 against McDonogh since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Catholic will head out on the road to square off against McDonogh at 4:15 p.m.

Catholic fell victim to Mount de Sales Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 16-0 to the Sailors.

Meanwhile, McDonogh gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 14-10 win over John Carroll. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Patriots on their field since April 17, 2019.

The victory made it two in a row for McDonogh and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Catholic got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2023 against McDonogh by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Catholic since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
