Volleyball Recap: Estacado Comes Up Short

Estacado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Spring Steers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Matadors of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Estacado started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Estacado lost, don't look at Da?ali Perez. Despite the final result, she had 21 digs and one assist. Laterrian Hastings also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Estacado's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Big Spring, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Estacado will be playing at home against Idalou at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Big Spring, they will head out to take on Lake View at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
