Basketball Game Preview: Gretna Hawks vs. Reidsville Rams

The Gretna Hawks are taking a road trip to challenge the Reidsville Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Gretna's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.

On Friday, Gretna didn't have quite enough to beat Dan River and fell 66-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (60), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Reidsville put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Walkertown to the tune of 81-53. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Reidsville's win came from a few key players Gretna will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dionte Neal, who shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten assists. The contest was his 18th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kendre Harrison, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds.

Reidsville was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Reidsville's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.8 points per game. As for Gretna, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-3.
