Baseball Recap: South Park Takes a Loss

South Park had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 11-4 to make it four. They fell 6-1 to the Avonworth Antelopes. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Antelopes earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

As for Avonworth, their win bumped their record up to 14-3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Avonworth's part, Carson Franc spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 12 Ks. Franc has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mason Metz was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Dolan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Park will head out to take on Seton LaSalle at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Avonworth, they will venture away from home to face off against Mars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
