Baseball Recap: Richland Comes Up Short

Richland extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They fell 14-11 to the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Blue Devils from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Ryan Ozog was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Dom Shank also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Bellwood-Antis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On Bellwood-Antis' side, Chase Plummer was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Plummer has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cam Swogger, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Richland will head out to challenge Bishop McCort at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellwood-Antis, they will welcome Westmont Hilltop at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
