Softball Recap: Pinelands Regional Beats New Egypt for Their 11th Straight Win

Pinelands Regional put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the New Egypt Warriors as they made off with a 16-4 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Elianna Meola made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Kendall Falduto and Jozlyn Peterson did most of the damage at the plate: Falduto went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Peterson went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave Peterson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassie Gould, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Pinelands Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Pinelands Regional's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for New Egypt, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pinelands Regional will take on Howell at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Egypt, they will challenge Jackson Memorial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
