Baseball Game Preview: Bonny Eagle Scots vs. Cheverus Stags

Bonny Eagle is 2-8 against Cheverus since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Scots will be playing at home against the Stags at 11:00 a.m. Bonny Eagle's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Cheverus' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bonny Eagle took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Deering a 1-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

The result came thanks to Gavin Saucier's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bonny Eagle is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Bonny Eagle secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Canaan Wood, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cheverus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-3 to Portland.

Cheverus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Bonny Eagle, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

Bonny Eagle was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheverus when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Do the Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Stags turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
