Preview: Clear Lake Cardinals vs. Kelseyville Knights
The Clear Lake Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Kelseyville Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Clear Lake will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Last Friday, Clear Lake didn't have too much trouble with Willits on the road as they won 26-10.
Meanwhile, Kelseyville can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They really took it to Lower Lake for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-3 win at home. Kelseyville pushed the score to 37-3 by the end of the third, a deficit Lower Lake had no chance of recovering from.
Kelseyville's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Michael Dejohn, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and Max Hommer, who gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns. Kelseyville also got a significant boost from Kyle Watkins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
Clear Lake's win was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points per game. As for Kelseyville, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Clear Lake didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Kelseyville when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 28-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clear Lake since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
