Amanna Anusiem leads a balanced attack to beat South Eugene

Recap: Rogers Rams vs. South Eugene Axe

Even though the South Eugene Axe scored an imposing 78 points on Saturday, the Rogers Rams still came out on top. Rogers managed a 84-78 win over South Eugene.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rogers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Amanna Anusiem, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Anusiem scored 15 or more points. Jakeem Richardson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists.

Despite the defeat, South Eugene had strong showings from Trey Saunders, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds, and Levi Hawes, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Saunders' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Calvin Yoder, who scored ten points.

Even though they lost, South Eugene were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Rogers now has a winning record of 5-4. As for South Eugene, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rogers will be home for the holidays to greet Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 344 points over their last five matchups. South Eugene will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Churchill at 6:45 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
