Baseball Recap: Stanton Takes a Loss

Stanton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Compass Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Compass Academy by a score of 10-9. The Buffaloes' loss continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

Aidan Armendarez and Mason Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Armendarez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Martinez went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two runs gave Armendarez a new career-high. Isaiah DeLeon was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Compass Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Stanton will head out to square off against Crane at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Stanton is facing Crane at the right time seeing as Crane is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Compass Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Coahoma at 12:00 p.m. Compass Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
