Softball Game Preview: Fountain Lake Cobras vs. Bauxite Miners

Fountain Lake hasn't had much luck against Bauxite recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cobras will square off against the Miners at 4:30 p.m. Fountain Lake has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mount St. Mary Academy hit Fountain Lake with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cobras lost 11-5 to the Belles.

Ellie Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Bauxite was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against Baptist Prep, falling 13-2.

KB Jacks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma King, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Bauxite has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-11 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Fountain Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 7-11.

Fountain Lake suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Bauxite in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Cobras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
