Volleyball Recap: Highland Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Highland came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Bakersfield Drillers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Drillers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.

Marlen Lopez paced Highland's offense, picking up six kills. Lopez got some help from Brooklynn Hill and her 16 assists. Mia Phelps controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Bakersfield was led to victory by Carly Arambula and Valeria Cunyas. Arambula had 16 digs and two aces, while Cunyas had 14 digs. That's the most digs Cunyas has posted since back in September.

Highland has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-14-3 record this season. As for Bakersfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Highland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Bakersfield Christian on the 14th. As for Bakersfield, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Centennial on the 14th.
