Baseball Recap: Manteo Beats Currituck County for Their Third Straight Win

Manteo took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Currituck County, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Manteo came out on top in a nail-biter against Currituck County on Tuesday, sneaking past 7-5. While the Redskins didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Manteo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Saywer, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. Another was Austin Godfrey, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win (which was Manteo's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Currituck County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Manteo will face off against Northside - Pinetown at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Currituck County, they are taking a road trip to take on Manteo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
