Football Game Preview: Lakeview Gators vs. Avoyelles Mustangs

Lakeview is 0-3 against Avoyelles since October of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Gators will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Lakeview has given up an average of 55.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakeview is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a blow against DeQuincy on Friday, falling 39-8.

Meanwhile, after only six points in their last contest, Avoyelles made sure to put some points up on the board against Buckeye on Friday. The Mustangs breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 46-14. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Avoyelles' win came from a few key players Lakeview will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kevin Jones, who rushed for 152 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries. Kenterrius Franks helped out on the ground, rushing for 89 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Avoyelles was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 366 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Avoyelles didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jones and Kelvin Jones. Another thorn in Buckeye's side was Kobe Smith, who picked up a sack, made 13 total tackles (1.5 for loss), and defended one pass.

Avoyelles' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lakeview, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Lakeview was dealt a bruising 44-0 loss at the hands of Avoyelles in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
