Volleyball Game Preview: Marshall Mavericks vs. White Oak Roughnecks

The Marshall Mavericks will face off against the White Oak Roughnecks at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday. White Oak took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Marshall, who comes in off a win.

Marshall had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over New Diana.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, White Oak unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spring Hill on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Roughnecks in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 25-21.

Marshall came up short against White Oak in their previous matchup back in September of 2020, falling 3-1. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
