Volleyball Recap: Ponca Indians vs. Wayne Blue Devils

Ponca unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wayne Blue Devils on Thursday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Ponca ultimately came up short, they really made Wayne work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 19-25, 25-14, 28-26.

Emerson Ehlers paced Ponca's offense, picking up 13 kills. Ehlers got some help from Elsie Keller and her 31 assists.

Leading Wayne to victory were Addison Frank and Jacen Hasemann. Frank had 26 digs and five assists, while Hasemann had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Hasemann has posted since back in September of 2024.

Ponca didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on the 2nd. As for Wayne, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against West Holt on the 2nd.
