Softball Recap: Newfield Takes a Loss

Newfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Smithtown East, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Wolverines fell just short of the Bulls by a score of 4-2 on Friday. The Wolverines have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Aubrey Firenze was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Julia Parisi also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Newfield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Smithtown East, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newfield will face off against Centereach at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Smithtown East, they will take on Commack at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulls will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games.
