Softball Recap: Morenci Comes Up Short

Morenci was the 13-3 winner over Bisbee when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pumas on Tuesday. The Wildcats just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Tiara Jones led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kieralyn Madrigal, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Morenci now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Bisbee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-7.

Coming up, Morenci will face off against Fort Thomas at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Apaches will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bisbee, they will take on Santa Rita at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 22.43 runs per game on average), something the Pumas will no doubt try to take advantage of.
