Softball Recap: Del Rio's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Del Rio took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Alexander, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Del Rio skirted past Alexander 7-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rams as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Karina Limon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched eight innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits. Limon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devyn Casillas, who went 3-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Ava Casillas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Del Rio's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-19. As for Alexander, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

Coming up, Del Rio will square off against United at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alexander, they will face off against Medina Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander's pitchers better be ready for this one: Medina Valley has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
