Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Concord Academy

Concord Academy came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Ragin' Bulls are ranked 113th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Concord Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alek Kornacki, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the most boards Kornacki has posted since back in February of 2024. Gray Madeira was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 12 points along with five assists and four steals.

Concord Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Hickory Ridge, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Academy will head out to challenge Gaston Day at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gaston Day is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68 points per game this season. As for Hickory Ridge, they will face off against West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
