Basketball Recap: Karns Takes a Loss

Karns was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Campbell County Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Beavers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-47 back in December of 2024.

Campbell County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Browning led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds. That's the most boards Browning has posted since back in November of 2023. Gavin Cox was another key player, going 6 of 15 on his way to 18 points and eight rebounds.

Karns' defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Campbell County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Karns didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-41 loss against Powell on the 21st. As for Campbell County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-44 defeat against Knoxville Central on the 21st.
