Baseball Recap: Northwestern Takes a Loss

Northwestern made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Norwayne, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Huskies fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Huskies have suffered since May 2, 2025.

Hayden Sigler was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Grady Ellerbrock was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Northwestern and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Norwayne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Northwestern and Norwayne could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Huskies (ranked 524th) will meet Waynedale (ranked 32nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Norwayne will take on Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (281 vs. 102).
