Softball Recap: Alameda Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Alameda waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Berkeley Yellowjackets a 5-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Julia Lambert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Lambert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Desiree Shoblo was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Alameda hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley struck out eight times.

Alameda's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Berkeley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Alameda will head out to challenge San Leandro at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Berkeley, they will venture away from home to take on Bishop O'Dowd at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
