Basketball Recap: Friendly Takes a Loss

Friendly came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Gwynn Park Yellowjackets by a score of 55-53 on Thursday. The Patriots have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Friendly still got an impressive performance from Joel Danquah, who went 8 for 16 to rack up 19 points. That's the most points Danquah has posted since back in February of 2024. Jeremiah Roach was another key player, going 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points and six boards.

Friendly's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Gwynn Park, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Friendly will square off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Friendly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season. As for Gwynn Park, they will head out on the road to challenge Potomac at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Gwynn Park's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
