Basketball Game Preview: West Tallahatchie Choctaws vs. Simmons Blue Devils

West Tallahatchie is 0-10 against Simmons since January of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Choctaws will venture away from home to square off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. West Tallahatchie will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

If West Tallahatchie beats Simmons with 43 points on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Choctaws came out on top against Riverside by a score of 43-34 on Thursday. The game was the first time the Choctaws have beaten the Bulldogs on their court since January 19, 2018.

West Tallahatchie's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanyla Washington led the charge by putting up 11 points and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, Washington now owns an excellent 57.1% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Kydresha Washington, who posted 11 points and eight steals.

Meanwhile, Simmons' game on Tuesday was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 51-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Humphreys County. The loss put an end to the Blue Devils' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Simmons fell to 2-1. As for West Tallahatchie, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

West Tallahatchie lost to Simmons on the road by a decisive 63-48 margin in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Choctaws avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
