Baseball Recap: Elmwood Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Elmwood had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Elmwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zackery Gross, who went 1-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Aden Alva also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Elmwood pushed their record up to 19-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 23-7.

As of now, neither Elmwood nor the Chieftains have any future games scheduled.
