Basketball Recap: Alameda Takes a Loss

Alameda played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Middle Park Panthers and fell 66-12. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-5.

Eduardo Cantillo was Alameda's leading scorer, having posted five points.

Middle Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joey Gagnon, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Gagnon has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Paugh, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Alameda and nudges their season record down to 4-16. As for Middle Park, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Alameda wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-29 victory against Aurora West College Prep Academy on the 27th. As for Middle Park, they have also already played their next contest, a 59-42 win against The Academy on the 27th.
