Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hurricane). They were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Huntington Highlanders on Tuesday. The Redskins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Sophie Dunlap was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Alexander Anderson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josie Shamblin, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Hurricane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington only posted an OBP of .350.
Hurricane's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Huntington, they dropped their record down to 4-21 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
As of now, neither Hurricane nor the Highlanders have any future games scheduled.
