Basketball Recap: Martinsville Takes a Loss

Martinsville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They lost 62-39 to the Pleasant Grove Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 943rd, while the Hawks are ranked 307th).

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Pleasant Grove, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Martinsville will square off against Corrigan-Camden at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. Martinsville is facing Corrigan-Camden at the right time seeing as Corrigan-Camden is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pleasant Grove, they will take on Gary in a tournament on Thursday. One thing working in Pleasant Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
