Recap: Overton Mustangs vs. Mart Panthers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Overton Mustangs can now relate to. They took a serious blow against Mart on Friday, falling 66-20. Overton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-14.
Overton's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Hawkins, who picked up 146 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hawkins' longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Jayden Edwards also helped out as he racked up 168 receiving yards.
Leading Mart to victory were Jd Bell and De'Montrel Medlock. Bell rushed for 209 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry, while Medlock rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.9 yards per carry. Bell has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last five times he's played.
Overton's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Mart, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Overton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mart will take on Deweyville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deweyville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
