Soccer Recap: Lovington vs. Artesia
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Mexico Military Institute, Lovington was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Artesia Bulldogs 2-1. Even though the Wildcats got in a bit of trouble with the refs ( Reydezel Salcido was handed a red card), the team managed to overcome the adversity.
Manuel Armendariz and
Alejandro Mendoza scored both of Lovington's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.
Lovington now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Artesia, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.
Lovington will square off against Goddard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Artesia has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Miyamura on the 12th.
