Baseball Recap: Peoria Heights Takes a Loss

Peoria Heights was the 7-6 winner over Princeville when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Peoria Heights took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Princeville on Monday.

Brandon Mercer and Cameron Ahart stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mercer scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Ahart went 2-for-3 with one home run. Mercer also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Peoria Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Princeville, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peoria Heights will challenge ROWVA/Williamsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. This will be Peoria Heights' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Princeville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Peoria at 4:30 p.m. Princeville is facing Peoria at the right time seeing as Peoria is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
