Softball Recap: Old Fort Comes Up Short

Hopewell-Loudon hit Old Fort with a nine-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Stockaders came up short against the Chieftains, falling 11-3. The loss continues a trend for the Stockaders in their meetings with the Chieftains: they've now lost eight in a row.

Old Fort saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abbi Ward, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Ward is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Old Fort's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Old Fort will venture away from home to challenge Toledo Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will welcome St. Joseph Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
