Soccer Game Preview: Royal vs. Highland

The Royal Knights will head out to take on the Highland Scotties at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Royal, who comes in off a win.

Royal will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Friday, then bounced right back against College Place on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Hawks. The result was nothing new for Royal, who have now won nine matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Highland's offense. They fell just short of Cashmere by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Cashmere are ranked 50th).

Royal has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 56 goals over those nine contests. As for Highland, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-6.
