Softball Game Preview: Benton Rangers vs. Hamilton County Foxes

The Benton Rangers will challenge the Hamilton County Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Richland County hit Benton with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rangers fell 6-2 to the Tigers. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Hamilton County can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Flora.

Colebie Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over 12 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run.

In other batting news, Kelsie Ashcraft was excellent, going 2-for-5 with one home run.

Hamilton County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are 4-2 when they post two or more home runs.

Benton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Hamilton County, their win bumped their record up to 13-15.

Benton couldn't quite finish off Hamilton County in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 and fell 8-6. Can the Rangers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
